Her hair whips violently about,
Staring into the vast emptiness,
She closes her eyes.

What happened, why?
She knows why, but wishes to forget.
Standing on a high bluff,
Ocean spread out before her.

Always happens like this,
Running away, into the sky,
Using the height to free her.

There was no good reason for what happened.
She knows it was entirely her fault, her choice.
That hollow nervous feeling stuck in her gut.
No way to fix it this time, no reason to try.

She questions the unseen force,
Will she ever truly love?
Can she really be at peace?

No, she believes she will always destroy.
Laughing, thinking back on her treachery,
So unreal now, like a silly dream.
His look of confused anguish-
Her bitter resolve written on her face,
She laughs inside at the hope he still believes

Just another one, she thinks.
Yet another little toy,
His innocence once cute.

It’s not her loss, she consoles herself.
The dark gray clouds hang heavy.
It’s not the cold wind that chills,
Only the knowledge of seemingly eternal solitude.
