Winter Guard is sometimes a term for a
color guard that practices during the winter to get ready for summer or fall competition, but its more often referring to Winter Guard International competing color guards and
drumlines.
Each Top 12
DCI corps has a winter guard program in which the color guards travel around and compete against each other under different
names than the corps they come from. The drumline competitions range from actual corps drumlines to
high schools to independantly comprised
marching percussion sections.
Both the guard and the drumlines compete
indoor in a gym on the
basketball court.
