Oldest operating steamboat on the Mississippi River System. Built 1914-5
by James R. Rees and son of Pittsburgh, PA as the Idlewild. Renamed Avalon in 1947 in Cincinnati. Purchased and given present name by Jefferson County Kentucky in 1962. Sabotaged and sunk at moorings in 1997 allegedly by some disgruntled pudgy guy (see infra-red necks.) Salvaged 1997-8. Ticket info 574-BELL.
