Abidjan is a city on the southern coast of the the Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) in west Africa.

It was the capital of the Ivory Coast until 1983, when then president Felix Houphouët-Boigny moved the seat of government to his home town of Yamoussoukro. Abidjan remains the economic capital and most countries, including the United States, maintain their embassy to the Ivory Coast here.
