Also called a caught ball, a pinball term for a pinball which the player has trapped on top of a raised flipper. This could occur in normal one-ball play, in an attempt to set up a shot, or in multiball as an attempt to reduce the amount of chaos by keeping one or more balls effectively out-of-play. A real pinball wizard might be able to flip that flipper just right to release one out of two or three held balls, without releasing the others or losing any of the balls down the center drain, thus turning any multiball into an effective one-ball multiball.
