Tantric image of divine sexual, or mystical, union between a male and female diety. In Tantric Hinduism it represents the union of Shiva(passive--male) and Shakti(active--female). In Buddhism it represents the union of Upaya(method--masculine) and Prajna(wisdom--female). To both systems it represents the elimination of dualities which leads to enlightenment.
