Wuzzle is a term for "group sessions of mutual
caressing and
sexual activity (both same-sex and opposite sex)" when referring to
spinner dolphins. Although the term is now the standard technical term for this type of behavior, it originated as a nonsense word. "It was coined by a marine biologist,
W.E. Schevill of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, who, when asked what the behavior was, replied without hesitation, "Why, it looks like a wuzzle to me.'"
