Vog is a weather condition peculiar to volcanic islands. The term may be in use elsewhere, but is certainly in common use downwind of Hawaii. The etymology is presumably from volcanic fog.

Vog is a faintly dusty, ground-level cloud of fog. Be aware that non-Hawaiins may be injured while laughing when you say it's very voggy out.

V.O.G. is a term used among local television stations. V.O.G. stands for Voice Of God. V.O.G. is a tape that the stations use for the newscast teasers. This tape includes an enthusiastic man's voice with phrases such as "Coming up next...", "and later...", and "also...". That is why one can hear the same man's voice on multiple television stations around the US. I have asked several people in the local media about the man's name, but none were able to tell me, yet they were all familiar with the term.
