Unreconstructed is an Americanism, an adjective referring to a person or ideology that is stuck in the past and stubbornly refuses to reconcile old beliefs or views with present political, social, or cultural realities.

Examples: "an unreconstructed Marxist"; "unreconstructed neoconservatism"

The term unreconstructed originally derives from the "Reconstruction" period in American History, when in the wake of their victory in the Civil War, the Northern states imposed drastic social and political changes upon the South. Southerners who refused to accept the fact of these changes were called "unreconstructed."
