tolsun (fqdn is tolsun.oulu.fi) was a Sun box in the department of Information Processing Science in University of Oulu, Finland. It was the machine that ran OuluBox and became the world's first IRC server (Jarkko Oikarinen wrote ircd in here).

It's now defunct because some cretin lost the piece of paper that had the wiring scheme of the power source. Besides, a 386 running Linux was faster than this baby. (So says the museum.)

Update 2001-11-21: Hmm, someone's been playing with DNS... tolsun.oulu.fi is now a CNAME pointing to tuoppi.oulu.fi, which in turn points to tuoppi.validatas.com. Interesting... I know this only because I'm supposed to read my mail from "tols17.oulu.fi", which I, for some reason, sometimes incorrectly type as "tolsun..."
