An actual tag that a coroner hangs from the toe a dead body. It is the ID badge of the dead.

It resembles a gift tag, but if you receive this type of gift you should suspect that you have done something very wrong and you are dead. Or, if you are lucky, the giver has chosen to tell you how special you are with a novelty tag from the L.A. County Coroner gift shop at www.lacoroner.com.
