Mainly seen in ancient Rome (The First and Second), also called triumvirate. The first triumvirate was Julius Caesar, Marcus Licinius Crassus, and Gnaeus Pompey (Pompey the Great). It ended rather quickly when Julius tried to conquer Pompey and rule Rome.The second triumvirate consisted of Marc Antony, Octavian, and Marcus Lepidus, and it to lasted only a short time, when civil war broke out. Octavian finally won control, and forged Rome into a 900 year empire.
