The main
muscle used in
respiration and breathing. The thoraco-abdominal diaphragm seperates the cavity of the chest and the
abdomen. When you inhale, the
diaphragm contracts...consequently expanding the
chest cavity and drawing air into your
lungs while at the same time stimulating the
stomach and
liver to help
digestion along.
Hiccups are the result of muscle spasms in this diaphragm.
