A tetsubo is a big club, simple and plain. Japanese bushi of the samurai class would rarely use such an unwieldy weapon, but the eta (peasants) were under no such restriction. In all the pictures that I've seen of them, they are metal shod at the ends and have metal "bumps".

In an ASCII representation, they would look much like this:

 /\
( )
( )
( )
( )
( )

 \/

(apologies for the poor ASCII art, but they looked rather distinctive.)
