Talking to ourselves is something we all do. We don't always use our mouths, so we generally can't be caught. Historically it has been considered a sign of madness, but this is wonderfully ironic, because it means we are all mad.

Sometimes it is as simple as saying "bitch" under your breath. Other times it is a long, rambling walk through the fields alone, staring at the sky, interrogating God.

It is important to occasionally snap out of the trance of reverie and listen to what we say. We can relate to ourselves as another person just as often as not. Our opinions and feelings about ourselves are as perilous to interpret as dreams - both accurrate and flawed in unusual ways. But they are often our best path to figuring ourselves out.
