Another name for
Stainless Steel 316L, a low-
carbon form of 316 steel. Although it is non-
magnetic when produced, it may become magnetic when worked.
Surgical Steel has a very low
nickel content (about 8%), and should therefore be
tolerated by all but the most
allergic people, who would have to resort to the much more
expensive alternative,
Titanium. It is generally suitable for body
piercings and long-term wear.
