One of the several primary divisions of either the animal, or vegetable kingdom, as, in zoology, the Vertebrata, Tunicata, Mollusca, Articulata, Molluscoidea, Echinodermata, Celentera, and the Protozoa; in botany, the Phanerogamia, and the Cryptogamia.
