It's a white powder with about half the sweetening power of sucrose. This versatile little chemical is not only used as a sweetener, but also as an oil absorber, organic solvent, and as a fine powder cleaner.

You'll find it in candy, vitamins, pills, and in some cleaners... sounds tasty.
"Warning: For some people, especially children, excessive consumption may produce laxative effects"

The fantastic thing about Sorbitol is that it is a sugar substitute which also has catastrophic consequences when eaten in large quantities.

Give Sorbitol based sweets to badly behaved children. Their parents will love you for saving their teeth, and, should the unruly minors scoff the sweets too fast they will have a nasty bout of diarrhoea for their troubles.

Everyone's a winner.
