The current hot women's clothing size in American fashion and Hollywood. Basically, it translates to "There is only skin covering these bones." Size 0s include Calista Flockhart, Lara Flynn Boyle (who used to be quite striking), Jane Leeves, Paual Devicq, Victoria Beckham/Posh Spice, Portia de Rossi (also used to be cute), Cameron Diaz (no wonder she looks so sickly) and Courtney Thorne-Smith.

PS: A size 0 will not naturally have breasts, a period, or much else that indicates she's female. If a size 0 has cleavage, look for the MADE IN TAIWAN stamp.

Traditionally a size intended for babies, tags indicating "size 0" often accompanied pastel coloured jumpsuits intended for most humans aged 2 or under. Also available: (for younger infants) size 00, and (for newborns) size 000.

Clothing sizes in the US have nothing to do with reality. I sit here now in my size 0 Banana Republic jeans. In my closet you will find some Tommy jeans, size 2 some Levis, size 4 and even a few 1s and 5s of various labels. THEY ALL FIT. In fact the size 0s are too loose and the size 2s are a bit tight. (!?!) No wonder women go around asking if they are fat. Men have these reasonable numbers for size that are directly related to the size of the waist of their pants. In womens' clothes it seems to be random.

This all said, I’d like to add that all of the name brand clothes mentioned in this node were bought second hand and the labels have been removed. Now that I think about it I think I’ll remove the goddamned size tags too.
I wear a size 0 and I have breasts and a period and muscle and fat along with my skin and bones. I can eat a pint of Ben & Jerry's just like the rest of you. I've been this size for four years now and unless I completely change my life or undergo some medical problem/miracle I'm probably going to be this size for the rest of my life. I don't even look thin. -- it's all proportional. I'm only five feet tall. My friends hate shopping with me because I'm always saying "can you look to see if they have it in a size 0?" until I point out that proportionally they're much thinner than I am. Being a size 0 by no means defines me, I don't shop for brand-names (Being my size I'm likely to wear whatever fits)

That said, I admit that Hollywood and clothes manufacturers never have had their heads screwed on correctly. Most of my jeans have the bottoms cut off because they make the size 0 with a 32" inseam whereas, in a survey of my other size 0 friends, it was discovered that the average inseam among us was closer to 29". Also, stores always stack the size 0's on the top shelf where no one who wears them can reach them.

Maybe I should just start going naked. It'd be easier and cheaper, at any rate, and I wouldn't have to put up with the "No real people wear a size 0" bs.
