Nickname for a sneaker, the Adidas Superstars, due to the distinctive shell-like pattern on the toe cap. It has three stripes on the outer side. The original shelltoes did not have the Trefoil on the heel patch.

Heavily favored by breakdancers/poplockers and Run DMC.
