ODOT's lame answer to the ice problem during an Oregon winter. These push the snow off to the side, leaving a nice sheet of ice with no snow to give grip on, then they pour pea gravel down, which has little effect but to pommel pedestrians when cars drive on it, and the gravel shoots out from under tires. Their excuse is that real snowplows peel off the dots. This would be a reasonable excuse except they use cheap road paint that is invisible during the Oregon Rain Season.
