Qui pro quo, sometimes rendered as quiproquo, is a phrase used in some languages to mean a misunderstanding.

It is from Medieval Latin, literally meaning taking "qui for quo", i.e. to make a blunder.

Not to be confused with quid pro quo; in languages where qui pro quo is used, quid pro quo is sometimes rendered instead as do ut des ("I give so you may give").
