This ability was written about in some detail by Fred Saberhagen and Roger Zelazny in their book Coils. The protagonist is a man who has the ability to project his consciousness into electronic devices, allowing him to reprogram them at will from a distance. Highly recommended piece of classic sci-fi; action without excess, plot without baggage, a good read in general.
