Instead of admitting that they are wrong and start with a new idea, many people in this world will continue to advocate their idea or position to the vast detriment of the common good. After hearing a manager saying that we needed to "protect our investment", I decided that PoI syndrome would be a good term to describe the actions of these people.
It is my theory that PoI syndrome is responsible for a large chunk of the worlds ills. I think that the one piece of advice to people should not be to wear sunscreen, but to not fear admitting failure or not to fear admitting that you backed the wrong idea.
