A panzerotto is Italy's gift to pizza-addicts who want it bigger, faster, cheaper (a friend of mine once said that panzerotti were to pizza what crack was to normal cocaine: "Hey, that stuff is pretty good, man, but I want a concentrated form that I can pick up whenever I want and recklessly over-indulge in!") Basically, to make a panzerotto, you take a small pizza, fold it in half, and deep-fry it. The better Italian restaurants fill the inside with "toppings" and leave the sauce on the outside. It's only a panzerotto if it's fried, otherwise it's a calzone.
