"Om Namah Shivaya" is a Hindu tantric mantra which translates to "Om and praise to Shiva", who is the diety responsible for destroying negative energies in order to prepare you for spiritual enlightenment and growth. What's really interesting about this mantra is that it's composed of the names of the six chakras/elements: Om, which is god (more like the universal spirit in most eastern religions); na, which is earth; ma, which is water; shi, which is fire; va, which is air; and ya, which is aether. Because of the way it represents all possible elements and tantras, "Om Namah Shivaya" is one of the most potent matras.
