National Institute of Standards and Technology, part of the DOC (Department of Commerce). They used to be the National Bureau of Standards, but that changed some time ago. They are running that new encryption algorithm contest thing, the one to replace DES I think. Installations in Gaithersburg, MD, and Boulder, CO.
