The Johnny-come-latelies of high society, that have the money to be a part of the elite, but not the heritage, and are therefore looked down upon by old money; think of it in terms of a secret club made of third graders, that the new kid is strong enough and fast enough to join, but just isn't one of the good old boys. (So much of the adult world can be explained through the actions of children.) New money is often in created in vast supplies during economic paradigm shifts, when the chance for entrepreneurs to make fortunes is greatest, for example, the industrial revolution and recent rise of dot-com millionairs.

The affectational name used for the currency system in the United Kingdom, adopted in the decimalization of 1971 (prior to this was the use of 'old money'). The numeric inheritence is much like any other decimal-based currency in the world, such as the obvious US Dollar:
