A variation of chess which is played on a 9 X 9 board, with the addition of a second queen to each team. The queens are placed on either side of the king, and renamed ministers.

This layout corrects some supposed weaknesses of traditional chess, like the vulnerability of the king on his bishop side and the difference in castling on the king and queen sides.

Minister chessTM was invented by Professor Michael J. Corinthios, and is produced and sold by Corinthian Games. You can order a game on-line at http://corinthiangames.com/. The site is a bit tacky, but the game is good.

I'm not really good enough a player to debate how ministers chess might be better or worse than traditional chess. But I do like having two queens... and who wouldn't?
