Not to be confused with uni-brow, middlebrow is an adjective describing cultural phenomena that are not as exclusive as highbrow nor as crude as lowbrow. For instance, clothes bought at a shopping mall are middlebrow, as opposed to a boutique (highbrow) or Wal-Mart (lowbrow). Usually used by a self-imagined elitist as a term of denigration.
