One of many percussion instruments that is a particular type of drum, specifically a snare drum that is about 16" deep and can be attached to a carrier so it can be carried by percussionists in a marching band or drum corps. They vary highly in quality; ~$500 will get you a 12-lug Yamaha marching snare with a floating head/kevlar head that sounds really damned good.
