Lines extend to infinity in both directions. They have no ends. Unfortunately this makes them impractical for most applications. Have you ever tried drawing an infinitely long (straight) line? It takes a lot of ink. Instead we mostly use small segments of lines, such as the red line segment with the letter b on it just up and to the right.
