According to the Principles and Parameters theory of modern structural linguistics, a syntactic category with a lexical entry and some combination of the features (+/-N), (+/-V), e.g.:

  • N => (+N, -V)
  • V => (-N, +V)
  • A => (+N, +V)
  • P => (-N, -V)
