An operation interrupting the pathways of the white nerve fibers in the brain. A prefrontal leucotomy is another name for a lobotomy.

I don't think this is done any more, although a modified leucotomy might still be used in some way to help with obsessive-compulsive disorder. I'm not quite clear on that point. It sounds downright barbaric.
