Also called Conebushes, a genus within the proteaceae family, close kin to the proteas, leucospermums and banksias. Mostly native to South Africa, they're widely grown as foliage flowers in Hawaii, California and Australia. Common trade names include Common Yellowbush, Goldentips, Goldtips and Goldtops Conebush. The flowerheads can be silver, red, green or a vibrant yellow -- they look great in formal arrangements but are best seen en masse on a hillside with the sun behind them, when they appear to glow.
