abbreviated to kW-h, the kilowatt hour is the unit of energy sold by electric companies.

A kW-h is equivalent to the energy from 1 kilowatt over 1 hour.

So if 1 watt == 1 Joule per second, then 1 kilowatt == 1000 joules per second.
1000 * 60 *60 == 1000 * 602 == 1000 * 3600 == 3600000 joules == 3.6 Megajoules (MJ).
This is equivalent to the same amount of energy capable of transforming 1.19 kg (2.633 lbs) of ice into water vapor. What a deal!
