There is a strange comfort in institutionalization. Everything is pre-organised, pre-scheduled. After a while you no longer have to even think for yourself. Morgan Freeman’s character, Red, in The Shawshank Redemption once explained this concept: “These walls are kind of funny like that. First you hate 'em, then you get used to 'em. Enough time passes, gets so you depend on them. That's institutionalized. They send you here for life, that's exactly what they take. The part that counts, anyway."
