While technically meaning anything on the Washington side of the Capital Beltway, the term is most commonly used to refer to political happenings and scandals taking place in and around the city. It is typically pretty easy to get from anywhere inside the beltway to downtown DC, with total travel time being 15-20 minutes from most points.
