Imaginary science refers to the SF poetic license of treating as legitimately scientific things known to be false (such as Faster-Than-Light space travel with no time distortions) or things which use scientific logic but are based upon false precepts (such as hyperdrive engines using a non-existent hyperspace), all to provide a better story. Imaginary science requires suspension of disbelief from those who scientifically knowledgeable.
