Shortened Japanese kotowaza meaning "a frog in the well doesn't know the ocean". The full kotowaza is "i no naka no kawazu taikai o shirazu". It means that someone or something needs to broaden its horizons and needs to learn or see more things than just the things that its comfortable with.
