Hy`po*xan"thin (?), n. [Pref. hypo- + xanthin.] Physiol. Chem.

A crystalline, nitrogenous substance, closely related to xanthin and uric acid, widely distributed through the animal body, but especially in muscle tissue; -- called also sarcin, sarkin.
