Webster 1913 fails to mention that in addition to having different meanings, the meanings are each pronounced differently. As in: I have read this node. Can you read? Homographs are sometimes known as heteronyms.

A list of Homographs I've been collecting since I was 13 or so.

Editor's note. The noder is no longer here to ask, so I am curious whether anyone else can suggest what the two pronunciations are for novel, coral, liter, or striped. /msg me if you can help. And no, such near misses as Novell, chorale, and lighter aren't it.

Hom"o*graph (?), n. [Gr. "omo`grafos with the same letters; "omo`s the same + gra`fein to write.] Philol.

One of two or more words identical in orthography, but having different derivations and meanings; as, fair, n., a market, and fair, a., beautiful.
