1.)An informal term for a youth or man;

2.)Used in countless Westerns to mean something like dude.
i.e. "You are one tough hombre".

Many Spanish words have become incorporated into American culture due to the close proximity of Mexico and Cuba. There is a large Latin American emigrant population in America also, and in many places Spanish is taught as a second (or indeed a first) language.
