The high desert is a middle-high altitude dry-climate region. High deserts tend to be a little wetter than normal deserts, yet are seldom able to support any significant kind of tree. The most common kind of tree found in a high desert in the western U.S. is a juniper tree. In most areas of high deserts, there are no trees at all, and the primary vegetation is sagebrush and tumbleweeds.
