A 1979
album by the
progressive rock group
Rush. This album is arguably one of their most
progressive and still retains much of the heaviness of their
Led Zeppelin-influenced years. It is the last of their so-called
progressive era, since after this album, they went on to record
Permanent Waves, which was more geared to be
radio-friendly. It features the 20 minute
epic Hemispheres and the shorter
instrumental La Villa Strangiato. Also notable is their short but very popular song
The Trees. The songs are still very much in tune to
progressive rock elements, including larger song structures, elongated solos, and odd
time signatures.
