hell freezes over

A phrase used to indicate that something is unlikely to occur. Hell being a relatively warm place, and freezing being something that occurs a lower temperatures.

Examples:

Though hell may not often freeze over, Hale freezes over whenever it is cold in Evansville.

The Eagles' album was so called because Don Henley once publicly stated that he'd only get back together with the Eagles when hell freezes over. So they were really forced into it.
