Passing an object from one entity to another.

Certain amounts of discretion and speed are implied. This could be a top-secret message between an agent-in-place and his foreign-devil handler, or a baton between two sprinters in the 400-meter relay. Most often in the United States, this refers to the quarterback in a football game giving the pigskin to one of his running backs. He just tucks it right in there.
