At sunset, the world becomes less clear,
Shapes, rather than images,
Circle red lights, up and around streets

Houses become stacks of rectangles, yellow against shadows
Trees scatter and catch the fading light
curved angles and graphs, bright on leaves, dark on branches

Tall columns of light come down from streetlights
Bright ovals in the dusk

Right angled buildings fade into dark corners
Curved beams of light open up alleys, then turn away, gone

A flat line horizonturns orange, then burgundy, then black
Save the stars-bright diamond shapes,
Waiting for the moon and it's changing edges
or the next day, and the sharpnessof dawn
