To add some more information to pukesick's entry: This slang term came into use during the American Prohibition era as a slurred pronounciation of "the Feds".

A mid-nineties (1994-1996) high school garage rock band from Kingsport, TN which were locally known for their entertaining live shows, making grand entrances onto the stage, sometimes wearing costumes. The lineup consisted of:

Mike: guitar and vocals
Jamie: drums and noise
-loser.: bass and noise
zoë: backup vocals
matt: spoken word and "resident bitch"
howard: sound and management

Fuzz released two cassettes in 1997, an 8 song album entitled A Stain on the Urine Soaked Sidewalks of New York City, and a limited edition New Year's single called "The Peanut Butter Cookie Man".
