A genre similar to industrial, EBM, synthpop, and techno all at once. Created by VNV Nation. Definitely includes Covenant. Other bands that could be considered futurepop: Apoptygma Berzerk, Flesh Field, Angels & Agony, Cleen/Cleaner, Haujobb, Assemblage 23, Icon of Coil, Lost Signal, and b001e. Funker Vogt would be pushing it.

Futurepop is still growing and developing. VNV has a very strong element of classical music. Covenant can just be weird — sometimes ambient, at others jazzy, and there's one song, "Consumer," where the singer sounds like he's trying to be Peter Murphy. Other bands go with a more typical EBM sound. Heavily distorted vocals are a rarity, though slight distortion to sound more robotic is not uncommon.

Futurepop songs often deal with where we are going as a species. Many are fairly modern, while many are Postmodern, and some are just love songs.
